Elizabeth Arlene (Clements) Cahoon, a
longtime resident of Hempstead TX
and current resident of Corpus Christi
TX passed away at home on Tuesday,
Sept. 18, 2012, after years of suffering
with COPD.
Born in Lynn Mass, on July 6, 1927,
she was the daughter of the late
George Cravin Sr. and Beulah M.
(McClain) Clements.  She is preceded
in death by her step father Frank
Gray, her precious daughter Suzan K.
(Cahoon) Perkins; her husband of
over 45 years Edward S. Cahoon; and
her loving brother George Clements,
who often sent her yellow roses and
her close cousin Phyllis Gifford.  She is
survived by her sons James, Michael
and Peter Cahoon; daughters, Linda
Rodriguez, Colleen Cahoon, and Mary
Okvist; son in-law George Allen Okvist
and daughter in-law Kathy Cahoon;
and numerous grand and great
grandchildren; half-brothers Lawrence,
Donald and Robert Gray; nieces
Cynthia McAdoo and Martha Glavic;
cousins Dorthy Drzewiecki and Bunny
Silva.
She traveled most of the U.S. and
settled in Hempstead around 1966.
She spent most of her life raising 5 of
her 7 children and later helping with
her grandchildren.  She was a fine
seamstress and often adorned her
children and home in special
homemade creations.  Her creativity
and care was also evident in the meals
she prepared for her family. She
worked for the Pappas family
restaurants for many years and later
worked in the Brenham office of her
sons company, Razor Inc.  Many know
her for her lovely daylilies and garden
while she lived on Clarkbottom Rd.
She was a true optimist and always
tried to find something funny or witty to
say.  She loved seeing happy faces at
Christmas and no matter how tough
the times she always found a way to
put gifts under the tree.  Her trip to
Hawaii with her dear late friend
Dorothy Jackson was one of her
fondest memories next to the special
events of her grandchildren.
Her last years were spent in Corpus
Christi Texas with her daughter Mary,
son in-law Allen, granddaughter Elana
and her two dogs.  Most of her family
came to visit as often as possible. In
the last years she joined the Catholic
Church and often prayed for
forgiveness and for the well-being of
those she loved.

Trent
Glen Elsworth Trent, of Monaville,
Texas, passed away on Thursday,
September 20, 2012, at the age of 84.
He was born on August 2, 1928 in
Mississippi to Alma and Harry Trent.
They moved to Houston, Texas when
Glen was 8 years old.  Glen graduated
from Reagan High School in 1946.  He
is preceded in death by his mother and
father; and stepson, Gary Hartman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45
years, Opal (Stefka) Trent; stepson,
Lee Hartman; grandchildren, Anessa
Sillman and Chris, Andrea Hartman,
Garrett Hartman and Courtney; and
great-grandchildren, Bridgit, Dallas,
Eleni, Noah, Devin, and Hayden.  Glen
is also survived by his sister, Charlotte
Bettis and husband Don of Anchorage,
Alaska; and a daughter, Shirley Payne
and husband James of LaPorte,
Texas, as well as their children.

Glen made a living as a machinist and
worked for various companies
throughout his career, including
Ladish, Mission, National Flange, and
Magnetic Instruments.  In his spare
time, Glen ran a successful repair
shop for everything you could imagine
out of the little orange garage at their
home in Monaville.  After retirement,
Glen spent many years at Lawrence
Marshall Chevrolet in Hempstead,
Texas.  When he finally stopped
working for “the man,” he spent all of
his time with his second true love
(Opal, being the first, of course), and
that was ranching.  He loved working
the cows and making hay.  He never
quit working the ranch and as much as
the family would tell him to slow
down…he absolutely refused.

Glen was a doting husband and a
wonderful grandfather.  Known as
PoPo to his grandchildren, there wasn’
t a visit that passed…no matter how
old they were…that he didn’t threaten
to get a switch after ‘em.  Of course,
you knew you were loved if you had a
switch threat coming!  The love and
care that Glen had for his wife could
best be described as undying and will
most certainly be felt until they meet
again.  Glen had a wonderful sense of
humor and never met a stranger.  He
was well liked in the community and will
be missed dearly by many.

The family wishes to thank you all for
your prayers and condolences during
this extremely difficult time.  Thank you
to the pallbearers:  Garrett Hartman,
Chris Sillman, Noah Lopez, Thomas
Jozwiak, Oran Hood, and Bobby
Repka.  Visitation will be Tuesday,
September 25, 2012 from 5:00pm to 7:
00pm and services will be held
Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at
10:00am.  Both will be held at
McWilliams Funeral Home, 706
Bremond Street, Hempstead, Texas.
Following the service on Wednesday,
lunch will be catered by Vicki’s Classic
Events, and dessert will be graciously
provided by the Women of Trinity at
the Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship
Hall, 1906 8th Street, Hempstead,
Texas.
